Famed classical music maestros from Japan will hold a concert at the UNESCO House in Paris on March 11 to mark the first anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake.
Yutaka Sado, an orchestra conductor, and Nobuyuki Tsujii, who won a gold medal at the 13th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in the United States in 2009, will appear at the event, whose co-organizers include the International Staff Association of UNESCO and the Maison de la Culture du Japon à Paris.
"Our goal is to express gratitude to the numerous musicians of the world who have held charity concerts, to appeal to the public that years of assistance will still be necessary for reconstruction, and to do the groundwork for that purpose," Sado told a news conference in Tokyo on Feb. 13.
