TEPCO has completed the steel frame for a giant cover that will enclose the stricken No. 1 reactor building at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant to contain leaks of radioactive materials.
Tokyo Electric Power Co. said it plans to install polyester fiber-made panels, and ceiling and ventilation equipment, on the frame by the end of October.
TEPCO started full-time construction of the frame in April.
A hydrogen explosion rocked the No. 1 reactor building on March 12, a day after the Great East Japan Earthquake, damaging the structure.
