Toyota: Production in North America fully recovers
English Description

Toyota Motor Corp. announced Sept. 13 that its output in North America has fully recovered to levels before the Great East Japan Earthquake.

The automaker's plants in the region will raise production levels 15 percent during the October-December period compared to its initial production plan released at the beginning of this year to make up for losses in sales of new cars caused by the March 11 disaster.

Toyota has continued to record year-on-year declines in new car sales.

Toyota Motor North America Inc., Toyota's subsidiary in the region, managed to restore production levels for its mainstay Camry and Corolla vehicles to pre-quake levels in June. The subsidiary's manufacturing levels for other cars, including sports utility vehicles, has completely recovered.

Shortly after the March 11 disaster, Toyota said it expected production in North America to recover between November and December. The fast-paced recovery was likely driven by the earlier-than-expected restoration of parts distribution networks.
