May 24, 2011We left from the Club Lohas/JEARS hotel in Inawashiro at 9 am headed to the Yamakiya district of Kawamata. We had been informed that the area was evacuating due to the radiation exposure being high there from wind blowing in from the nuclear power site. A local woman, Sega san, had heard about JEARS and their work and had contacted us to coordinate a pick up of animals in the area so that the guardians wouldn’t have to leave them behind when they left for evacuation centers.
