Local volunteers started to publish the Ofunato Chiiki Town Joho (Ofunato Regional Gazette) in hopes to rebuild the sense of community in the region, developing links among individuals to create a network of mutual support. Over 1000 copies are distributed throughout the five towns that it covers.
