Habitat Japan is working to improve the living environment at temporary shelters in Ofunato, Iwate Prefecture. In early November 2012, Habitat's volunteers built and installed canopies at Omamezawa Temporary Shelter Complex. Volunteers also came from Nissan Motor Co.
