The prefecture is shaped like an arc stretching North to South. Fukushima prefecture is located at the South most part of Tohoku Area and it is the nearest entrance coming from Tokyo Metropolitan Area. The distance from Tokyo on highway is 175km and it takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes by car. It may be the equivalent of going from Santa Monic
