The Japan Embassy organised Akari Lantern Project at London Thames Festival 10th and 11th March 2011 to raise money for Japan's recovery from the earthquake and tsunami disaster.There were origami, badge and Lantern making workshops. Many people has joined the night parade with their hand made lanterns in their hands and there also Joji Hirota's live performance of taiko drums. They collected £2304.53 from this event.All the donations have been sent to the Tohoku Earthquake Relief Fund set up
