Activity Report September 2011 - Resurrection of Fukushima

As already repeatedly reported in the past activity reports Iitate village has an area of 230 square kilometers, among which 75% is forest. While there are some housing areas, most of the houses are located in the mountains/hills. Gamma rays are said to proceed outward for at least 200-300 meters. The gamma rays which burst from the entire source plane are not attenuated to follow the inverse square law of the distance as can be seen in the point radiation source such as hot spots in the urban areas so that the rays affect significantly to the air dose rate of the neighborhood.
