June 1, 201 Japan, fighting its worst nuclear crisis, had underestimated the hazard of tsunami striking the Fukushima Daiichi plant, the IAEA said in a report Wednesday. A team of international nuclear safety experts from 12 countries, created by the Vienna-based U.N. International Atomic Energy Agency, submitted to Japanese authorities its preliminary assessment report on the Fukushima nuclear crisis, set off by the March 11 magnitude-9 earthquake and the 45-foot tall tsunami.
