Story from ASIJ
English Description
Mrs. Krauth's class I am a student at the American School In Japan. During the earthquake I was in 8th grade participating in Language Arts Class. When the earthquake struck everybody went and took cover under their respective desk, like usual. However, the shaking did not stop and we then evacuated outside to the field. Everybody, including the teachers were clearly worried and consequently, we had to stay out on the field until the school felt it was safe for us to ride the bus home. At our school many students take the bus for an hour each way. This one hour bus ride ended up taking around 8. The earthquake struck before 3 and I got home at 12. The bus was barely moving through horrible traffic and it was hard to contact my parents by calling. Instead I emailed my Mom to tell her everything was ok.
