本稿の目的は，大学生が東日本大震災の復旧・復興に果たす役割と意義を考察することにある。震災直後はボランティア自粛ムードもあったが，各種市民団体や大学等によるボランティア派遣等が開始されたことにより，ボランティア未経験の学生にも広く活動の場が提供され，支援活動は活発化した。本稿では，まず学生による大震災の復旧・復興支援に関する直接的および間接的活動を概観し，その実績を整理した。次に，学生のボランティア活動の単位化をめぐる議論や各大学の対応を分析することで，大学が学生活動をいかに支援すべきかを検討した。加えて被災者との聞き書き活動を事例に取り上げ，その成果と課題を分析した。
