Fukushima Daichi Nuclear Disaster Presentation
English Description
Hello. I just had a group presentation of the Fukushima Daichi Nuclear Disaster. Through this presentation, I was able to realise that even if the probability of what something can happen is 1% we still have to take into account and be smart with our choices. The fact that the Fukushima Daichi was located right next to the shore with a 5.8m sea wall made me questions the improvement of knowledge, engineering and technology. Japan is located in one of the world's most earthquake vulnerable locations, yet the engineers didn't think that an earthquake might happen and a problem may occur. Because of the failure in design, Japan faced a huge debt, nuclear contamination, and decrease in tourism. This clearly shows that we have to be more calculating and sure.
