Some ground motions recorded in the 2010 Maule, the 2011 Great East Japan, the 2011 Christchurch and the 1985 Mexico Earthquakes and simple analytical models are used in this paper for analyzing the structural response of typical buildings during these earthquakes. Lateral displacements of structures, hysteretic energy response spectra and a measure of earthquake damage are calculated in this paper using the selected records.
