NEWPORT -- A piece of the wayward dock that landed on Oregon's Agate Beach after crossing the Pacific Ocean after a massive earthquake will start a new life here Sunday as a "tsunami awareness exhibit." The exhibit is made up of a slice of the 66-foot, 132-ton dock that landed just north of Newport last summer and immediately began drawing thousands of tourists and curiosity-seekers to the coast.
