Following an unprecedented request from Prime Minister Kan, all the reactors at the Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) were stopped on May 14. The Prime Minister has also vowed that the national policy to promote nuclear power plants will be dropped and that Japan’s energy policy be subject to review.
