Item Description

Immediately after the Great East Japan Earthquake on 11 March 2011, H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Father Emir of the State of Qatar, announced a US$100 million gift to Japan, to assist relief efforts and accelerate the recovery of victims. He also ordered the formation of a 24-hour task force within Qatar Petroleum Company, to provide necessary assistance to Japan under direct supervision of H.H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar.

Japanese Description

カタールフレンド基金では、「子どもたちの教育」「健康」「水産業」「起業家支援」の4分野において、数々のプロジェクトに対する資金援助を行っていきます。第一弾の大型プロジェクトとして、20億円を投じ建設された多機能水産加工施設「マスカ―」は、2012年10月13日にオープンしました。宮城県の女川町に立地するこの施設は、地域の経済再建に対する期待を人々にもたらしています。その後実施されたカタールフレンド基金による第一弾の公募では、5つのプロジェクトが選定されており、続く2012年10月には、第二弾公募が発表されています。
