With experts gathered from Japan and around the world, the Decommissioning Office formulates major mid-and-long term strategies to deal with the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (NPS), such as methods of retrieval of fuel which has melted then hardened (fuel debris) and the handling of radioactive waste, and supports decommissioning work. Additionally, the NDF offers technical assistance for addressing current important issues promoted by the Japanese government and TEPCO, such as measures to deal with contaminated water.
