The Japanese government has been an early and staunch supporter of civil nuclear energy, despite some highly public incidents that have left some members of the public with an aversion often described as a “nuclear allergy.” Most recently, the country suffered an unprecedented natural disaster, which contributed to a meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant that displaced thousands.
