SEVEN YEARS AFTER: Two boys visit site of post office where tsunami took their father

NAMIE, Fukushima Prefecture--Two boys for the first time visited the site of a post office where their father was swept away during the 2011 tsunami.

Takafumi Sato, 8, and his brother, Yusuke, 7, were taken to the site by their grandfather Kazuo, 76, on March 11, the seventh anniversary of the disaster.

Their father, Kenichi, who was a post office worker, was 41. He remains unaccounted for since the tsunami spawned by the Great East Japan Earthquake destroyed the Ukedo Post Office.

At the time of the catastrophe, the boys were 1 year old and 2 months old, respectively.

“My son should be happy to learn that his two children have become this big,” Kazuo said while watching photos of Kenichi.
