I didn't live in Japan at the time of the earthquake and I didn't know much about it until I moved here, but one of my first memories during my trip to Japan is about 3/11. When I was visiting ASIJ the woman showing us around campus saw my brothers birthday which happens to be 3/11. She looked really sad and warned us that he might not have very fun birthdays in school because people would be mourning the events that happened in 2011. It was the first time my family really thought about the potential earthquakes that could happen if we decided to move to Tokyo.
