Item Description
I was in Kobe, Japan when the 3-11 earthquake hit. I was at school in computer class when a girl began to say that she felt the building moving. Quickly others began to acknowledge that the building was swaying and the teachers yelled at us to get under the desk. A girl stared to cry and I began to get irritated by all the noise than the swaying. I had experienced multiple earthquakes so my level of alertness was extremely and disturbingly low. After a couple minutes of swaying I did feel dizzy and I wasn't sure if it stopped. I had never felt an earthquake last thing long or struck this hard. An announcement went off soon afterwards and in an orderly manner we were escorted out of the room. Parents were called in to pick us up, and I was more excited to talk about the earthquake with my family. My mom soon informed me that although the earthquake had not damaged our surrounding area as hard, other prefectures had experienced devastating effects. I began to be overwhelmed with news of the earthquake's affect on people's lives and homes. Our school in the following weeks continued to inform us on the event and fundraisers were a priority.
