Item Description
I remember I was in math class when the earthquake occured. We quickly hid under our desks to protect ourselves. The earthquake felt like I was on a merry-go-round; the ground was shaking in a circular motion. After the earthquake ended, we quickly lined up in a single filed line and evacuated the school. The whole school moved to the field in case of another earthquake. After everything setted, students slowly started to go back to their home. I was waiting for my bus, but the streets were extremely conjested, so the bus never came. So, I decided to walk back to school and call my mother. However, I was not able to contact my mother because many people in Japan were calling at once. Afterall, I stayed at school that day, and my mother picked me up the next morning. When I got home, I remember a lot of frames were broken. Also, when I turned on the TV and saw the disaster in Fukushima, that was when I first new there was a tsunami in Fukushima. I still remember today that I did not believe that I was actually watching live news at first. The videos were unreal; it was like I was watching an action movie. However, when I knew I was watching the news, I felt a sudden shiver. A few days after the earthquake I remember going to the combini with my parents to buy emergency food in case of another earthquake. I remember looking through the aisle and seeing that there were barely anymore drinks, and all the cup ramens were out. Also, I remember my mother checking the radiation detector, and clearly saw a increase in radiation after the disaster. I did not know much about radiation at that time, but now that I look back at this, I know the disaster in not only the tsunami and the earthquake, but the melt down in the nuclear plants.
