This content is about an excerpt of a report on relief activities conducted by the Nagaoka Red Cross Hospital during the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. The excerpt is about an essay contributed by a staff member of the hospital who was involved in accepting 20 dialysis patients from Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture from March 17, 2011 to April 2, 2011. Eleven hospitals in Niigata City and Nagaoka City accepted total 154 patients who needed dialysis. This is the first ever mass transfer of dialysis patients during a disaster in Japan.
