2011年3月に発生した東京電力福島第一原子力発電所の事故においては、事故に対する正しい情報が共有されず、放射線の健康への影響について様々な見解が流布したため、被災者は被ばくへの不安や恐怖から長期にわたって心身ともに不安な日々を過ごしました。原子力災害において被災者と接することになる救護班要員は、被災者から事故や放射線に関する質問や助言を求められる場面があると考えられます。このため日本赤十字社では、原子力災害時に救護班要員が被災者とどのようにコミュニケーションを図るべきかについて記述した冊子を、専門家のアドバイスを受けながら作成しました。
During the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant Accident occurred in March 2011, accurate information was not shared and various opinions on health effects from radiation spread. Under this situation, affected people had to spend prolonged anxious days both physically and mentally due to anxiety and fear for radiation exposure. Relief team members who will face to affected people in a nuclear disaster highly likely have situations receiving inquiry or request for advice from affected people about an accident and/or radiation. For this reason, by getting advice from experts the Japanese Red Cross Society developed a booklet describing how relief team members should communicate with affected people during a nuclear disaster.
