From July 6 to August 7, 2015, Ms. Tomoko Kono, a chief nurse from the Japanese Red Cross Kyoto Daiichi Hospital worked on the health consultation program. She is an instructor for the JRCS psychosocial care program and knows well the importance of listening to people who are suffering. During her participation in the program, she dedicated herself to listening to the people from Namie by visiting them at their homes in Iwaki. Ms. Kono looks back at her one-month duty and says: “If I had not come here and spoken personally with the evacuees, I never would have understood the reality that they are facing. Working on the program convinced me that one of the JRCS’s roles is to convey to the wider public what happened at the time of the earthquake and tsunami as well as the perspective of the evacuees from Namie.”
