地震・津波・原発事故の3重の災害から3年が経過した。福島県では多くの被災者が自宅に帰れないのではないかという危惧を抱いている。日本赤十字社の近衛社長は、「我々は引き続き被災者に寄り添って行く必要がある」と述べている。日赤では、世界の姉妹社を通して寄せられた海外救援金を使って多くの復興プロジェクトを行ってきた。これからは、原子力災害の被災者や、いまだ多くが仮設住宅に住んでいる高齢者などの弱者などに対して、健康を維持するため、新しいコミュニティーを作りだすための助けとなる活動を行って行くニーズがあり、被災地の支部を中心に少なくとも2017年まで継続する。
Three years have passed since the triple disaster: earthquake, tsunami and nuclear accident. In Fukushima Prefecture, many survivors are worrying if they can really return to their hometowns. Tadateru Konoe, President of the JRCS says, "we need to continue to stand by the survivors." The JRCS has implemented many recovery programmes by using international donations received from Red Cross and Red Crescent societies around the world. The needs at the moment are activities for the people affected by the nuclear accident and the vulnerable people such as the elderly who are still living in temporary housing to maintain their health or to help them to create new communities. Those activities will be conducted mainly by JRCS chapters in the affected areas and will be continued by at least 2017.
