English Title
Nurses’ listening to people from Namie has a significant meaning. -Health consultation program for people evacuated from Namie-
English Description

From Feb. 10 to Mar. 7, 2014, Yuka Tsumori, a nurse from the Matsue Red Cross Hospital, worked on the health consultation program. It has been three years since the Great East Japan Earthquake and nuclear accident, and people from Namie are becoming stable psychologically and accepted the nurse's visit willingly. She says, "A door-to-door visit allowed me to find firsthand how the people are living their lives and give advice in terms of physical and psychological aspects, but I found a telephone interview difficult because I had to decide on whether or not they needed any support from their voices and how they spoke." She goes on to say, "Through my round, I recognized again the importance of providing mid- and long-term psychological care. When I return to my hospital in Shimane Prefecture where a nuclear power plant is located, I want to share my experience with my co-workers and to make use of it in working as a nurse."
