震災で社会福祉施設では福祉車両を喪失しました。さらには原発事故に伴う放射線の影響で、沿岸地区の福祉施設は閉鎖を余儀なくされ、入所者や利用者は内陸部の施設・避難所に移動しました。喪失した車両の補填や内陸部の福祉施設における利用者増加への対応ができるよう、日本赤十字社は市町村や社会福祉施設などに福祉車両を寄贈しました。

Provision of Welfare Vans_JRCS Recovery Programmes in Fukushima (Social welfare services)
English Description
In the affected area, social welfare facilities lost their welfare vans. In addition, those along the Pacific coastal area were forced to be closed due to the effects from radiation following the nuclear accident. The residents and users displaced by the closure were moved to other facilities and evacuation centers in the inland area. The Japanese Red Cross Society provided welfare vans for municipalities and social welfare facilities to replace the lost vans and to help facilities in the inland area to respond to the increase in users.
