All residents have been forced to be evacuated from Katsurao. The municipal government of Katsurao borrowed a building of a closed junior high school in Miharu where the residents evacuated to, in order to provide classes for its elementary and junior high school students. However, there was no play equipment on the school ground that the children could play with freely during breaks because it used to be a junior high school. This caused worry regarding the children’s physical inactivity and lower physical ability. The Japanese Red Cross Society provided outdoor play equipment so that the children could exercise and relieve stress caused by the evacuation.
