This is part of a report about relief activities conducted by the Japanese Red Cross Otsu Hospital during the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. This part is about relief activities by Team Uchibori that provided mobile clinic services in Aizuwakamatsu area.
The effects from the nuclear accident forced the evacuees to stay at evacuation centers. They were concerned about unforeseeable future because they did not know when they were allowed to return to their homes. In that situation, provision of psychological care was much more important. Moreover, the headquarters of coordinating disaster medicine was being operated by only a few staff members over several weeks after the outset of the earthquake. Replacement members needed to be arranged. Including that, the team members felt that preparing arrangements by the Fukushima Prefectural Government would be urgently needed.
