クウェート政府から日本政府に東日本大震災の被災者支援のために原油500万バレル、金額にして約400億円相当の寄付が行われ、寄贈式が2011年10月12日に行われた。両国政府は協議の上、この寄付を日本赤十字社を通じて被災者支援にあてることとした。

Kuwait Government donated crude oil in value of 40billion Yen to Japanese Government.
English Description
Kuwait Government donated 5mil barrel of crude oil to Japanese Government for purpose of relief affected people in Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. Both Gov. hoped the donation would be distributed to disaster area via Japanese Red Cross Society. The crude oil was sold to Japanese refiner, and the money, about 40billion Japanese Yen, received from the transaction would be submitted to the disaster area to reconstruct affected area.
