福島第一原発事故発生時、福島県に展開していた日赤の県外からの救護班が一時撤退を余儀なくされるなど、日赤の活動は十分なものではありませんでした。放射線に関する知識の不足、放射線防護資機材の不足、放射線下での行動基準の欠如などが理由としてあげられます。日赤はこれらを教訓として、原子力災害に備えて適切な対策を取ることの重要性を認識しました。

Background of the JRCS’s nuclear disaster preparedness (1/4)
English Description
In the wake of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident, JRCS relief teams dispatched to Fukushima from other prefecture were forced to temporarily leave Fukushima. This means that not enough activities were provided by the JRCS. The reasons include the lack of knowledge about radiation, the lack of radiation protective equipment/materials and the lack of code of conduct during relief activities in a radiation environment. The JRCS took these as lessons and recognized the importance of taking appropriate measures for nuclear disaster preparedness.
