The First Red Cross Nuclear Disaster Seminar was held for JRCS staff and related people from relevant ministries/agencies and academic institutions. Dr. Akashi, Executive Director of the National Institute of Radiological Sciences (NIRS), gave a presentation entitled " “Radiation Medicine in Japan”. Dr. Akashi provided some basic knowledge of radiation, the radiation emergency medicine system in Japan and how NIRS responded to the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident.
