English Title
Different feelings and thoughts among the evacuees five years after the earthquake and tsunami -Health consultation program for people evacuated from Namie-
English Description

From February 22, 2016 to March 25, 2016, Ms. Mizumi Matsumoto from the Japanese Red Cross Kumamoto Hospital was involved in the health consultation program.
This was the second duty period for Ms. Matsumoto. The previous period was in 2013, two years after the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. At that time, they told her about their future concerns, saying: “Our future is nowhere in sight.” This time, five years after the earthquake and tsunami, she learned that some of them had purchased a house and completely settled in Iwaki City because they think they are not able to move back there. On the other hand, some evacuees said: “The town office says that they expect to return to Namie Town in 2017, and we want to wait until then to assess the situation of the town. If it is at all possible, we will return and live again there”; Ms. Matsumoto learned that there are different feelings and thoughts among the evacuees.
When JRCS nurses visit the evacuees, they say to the nurses, “Thank you for coming today and listening to me. I would be happy if you come again.” Ms. Matsumoto recognized again the importance of listening to each of the evacuees and continuing to provide them with assistance.
