All residents of Namie were forced to evacuate the town due to the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident. As they are living in various areas and are not receiving enough public health and administrative services, the JRCS began to take on a role to support people from Namie for their health.
Public health nurses and hospital nurses of the JRCS are conducting home visit to families evacuated from Namie to Iwaki for health consultations. As a base office for their activities, the JRCS opened “JRCS Public Health Room for Namie”. To promote communication among people from Namie who are scattered in Iwaki and isolated, the public health room has been providing salon program activities such as a health exercise for the people from Namie.
These activities are funded by international donations from the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and others around the world.
