At the request of the Municipality of Namie in Fukushima, the Japanese Red Cross Society started conducting the health consultation program for people evacuated from Namie to Iwaki due to the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident. The program started on Oct. 15, 2012.
The program is conducted by dispatching nurses of the Red Cross hospitals and faculty staff of the Japanese Red Cross College of Nursing. The nurses will make a door-to-door visit to the Namie people's home to check their health conditions. At the same time, the nurses will provide health consultation and psychological care for the people who are now living in unfamiliar places to them.
Yuki Yatomi, a nurse from the Japanese Red Cross Kitami Hospital, made a door-to-door visit as the first team.
