日本赤十字社では2013年7月、いわき市内で新たな活動として「サロン」を開いた。苦しい避難生活を長期にわたって余儀なくされている浪江町民が息抜きをする場を目指している。2013年7月1日から13日までの間、健康調査活動を行った日本赤十字社和歌山医療センターの木下愛看護師と高松赤十字病院の冨家朋美看護師は家庭訪問した折にこのサロンを紹介し、新たな試みに心を配っていた。
In Jul. 2013, the JRCS started a "salon" program in Iwaki as their new activity. People from Namie have been forced to evacuate from their town and live a hard life for a long period of time. The JRCS hopes to make the salon a place where the people can relax. From Jul. 1 to 13, Ai Kinoshita from the Japanese Red Cross Wakayama Medical Center and Tomomi Tomiie from the Takamatsu Red Cross Hospital worked on the health consultation program. At door-to-door visits to the people, the nurses introduced the salon activity to them to get across the new effort by the JRCS.
