From Oct. 28 to Nov. 22, 2013, Kaede Yamane, a nurse from the Japanese Red Cross Okayama Hospital, worked on the health consultation program. When she visited Namie people at their homes, each of them talked cheerfully, but they are living their lives with various fears.
Only a small number of people participated in the previous health salon activity. Reflecting on that, the nurse encouraged the Namie people to join the activity planned during her round, every time she made a door-to-door visit and participated in a communication meeting. As a result, more people than the previous time joined the activity. Yamane says, “We want the Namie people to take the salon activities as opportunities to communicate with each other and hope the activities will help us provide more support for them."
