This content is about an excerpt of a report on relief activities conducted by the Nagaoka Red Cross Hospital during the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. The excerpt is about an essay contributed by Mr. Kaihatsu, a nurse of the hospital who was dispatched as a member of the first DMAT from the hospital to the affected area on the earthquake day:
"I was mobilized as a DMAT member on the earthquake day and we were assigned to transport patients from Minamisoma City. Then we started relief activities in Shinchi Town, Fukushima Prefecture. However, we had to leave Fukushima due to the outset of the nuclear accident. What one person can do during a large disaster was very little but I felt that we could make it by cooperating with each other."
