This content is about an excerpt of a report on relief activities conducted by the Nagaoka Red Cross Hospital during the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. The excerpt is about an essay contributed by Mr. Tsuchida, an administrative staff member who was dispatched as a member of the first DMAT from the hospital to the affected area on the earthquake day:
"I was mobilized as a DMAT member on the earthquake day. We engaged in relief activities first in Fukushima Prefecture and then in Miyagi Prefecture. When we had to leave Fukushima due to the nuclear accident, I could not look at the evacuees on their faces because I felt sorry to them. In order to figure out the situation during the disaster, I felt that JRCS relief teams should communicate not only with the chapter or hospital they belonged to, but maybe with all of the relief teams in the affected areas one another."
