2013年12月2日に日本赤十字社本社で第一回赤十字原子力災害セミナーが開催された。セミナーの中では、二人の専門家から基調講演があった。
まずは、独立行政法人放射線医学総合研究所の明石理事から「日本における放射線被ばく医療」と題して、放射線の基礎的知識や日本における緊急被ばく医療の体制、そして福島原発事故に伴う同研究所の対応などが紹介された。つづいて福島赤十字病院の渡部副院長から「福島原発事故における日赤救護活動と今後の課題」と題して、当時の日赤救護班・福島赤十字病院の動向、原発事故による活動の制約などが紹介され、日赤として今後どのように対応していくべきかについて問題提起があった。
このあと、福島県富岡町で避難者の生活支援を行っている「おだがいさまセンター」の天野センター長からのビデオメッセージが紹介された。
The First Red Cross Nuclear Disaster Seminar was held on December 2, 2013 at the Japanese Red Cross Society National Headquarters. In this seminar two experts gave keynote presentations.
The first presenter was Dr. Makoto Akashi, Executive Director of the National Institute of Radiological Sciences (NIRS). In his presentation entitled “Radiation Medicine in Japan”, Dr. Akashi provided some basic knowledge of radiation, the radiation emergency medicine system in Japan and how NIRS responded to the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident. The next presenter was Dr. Yoichi Watanabe, Deputy Director General of the Fukushima Red Cross Hospital. In his presentation entitled “Relief Activities Conducted by the Japanese Red Cross Society after the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant Accident and the Challenges for the Future”, Dr. Watanabe presented information about the relief activities by the Japanese Red Cross relief teams and Fukushima Red Cross Hospital, in addition to the constraints posed by the nuclear accident. Furthermore, he raised issues about how the Japanese Red Cross Society should respond to a similar situation in the future.
Following the keynote presentations, a video message was shown from Mr. Kazuhiko Amano, Director of Tomioka Odagaisama Center for Supporting Reconstruction of Victims' Living.
