このレポートは、地震の発生から24ヶ月間（2011年3月から2013年3月まで）の日赤の活動について説明しています。
日赤は、震災直後の応急対応に加え復旧・復興のための事業も行っており、事業は、生活やコミュニティーの再建支援、福祉サービスの回復支援、教育支援、地域の医療体制の復旧支援、今後発生するかもしれない災害に備える取り組みがあります。これらの事業には、海外の姉妹社を通して寄せられた海外救援金（2013年7月時点で590億円を超える金額が寄せられました）が使われています。
This report explains the JRCS activities conducted for 24 months from the outset of the earthquake (March 2011-March 2013). As well as response activities right after the outset of the disaster, the JRCS has provided recovery programmes. These programmes include assistance for rebuilding lives and communities, education and rebuilding community hospitals and preparedness for the possibility of disasters in the future. These programmes are funded by the international donations given to the JRCS via its sister National Societies (over 59 billion yen as of the end of July 2013).
