Perspective - An international student

Before learning about the triple disasters on 3/11, I had little knowledge of what actually happened. Mainly, I knew about the earthquake and tsunami, however, I had little insight into the devastation of the nuclear disaster in Fukushima. I didn’t realize that the nuclear disaster caused so much hardship for so long. Radiation plagued the area, causing not only to harm the surrounding environment, but also the people. It is upsetting that there still is a lot of controversy around Fukushima when they really need assistance and understanding. I am surprised that the Japanese government has yet to cut ties with nuclear power, despite protests by Japanese communities. In addition, I hope that money will be put toward research and action against nuclear waste removal for the future so that the communities can heal.
