On March 11, 2011, we experienced the Great East Japan Earthquake. It was a very big disaster. Prefecture of Miyagi needed 22,095 units of temporary housing.
A temporary house that was actually used in the former site of Ohara junior high school in Ishinomaki was relocate in the ground of Tagajo High School. General floor plan is two units one building. One house has a kitchen, a toilet, a bathroom and two 7.5 square meter rooms.
Temporary housing was set up in our school yard. A house is displayed as it was used. “Tsunami model around Sendai Bay”, which was donated by Miyako Technical High School in Iwate is displayed in the other house. This model was reproduced with a 1.8m square, on a scale of 1 to 25,000: around Sendai bay plains from Higashimatushima to Watari. Visitors have a chance to see the flooded area with this equipment when you pour water into the bay.
We want to keep on doing the activity for disaster prevention and reduction with this temporary housing so that we won’t forget the Great East Japan Earthquake.

多賀城高校「仮設住宅設置」

2011年3月11日に起こった東日本大震災によって甚大な被害を受けた宮城県では、406地区２２０９５戸の応急仮設住宅が必要になりました。多賀城高校にある仮設住宅は、実際に石巻市大原地区・旧大原中学校跡地に設置されていた１棟を移設したものです。一般的な仮設住宅の間取りは２戸1棟建てとなっており、1戸は4.5畳の部屋4つ分（面積２９．７㎡）で間取りは2DK（台所・浴室・トイレ・４．５畳の部屋2つ）です。本校に設置されている仮設住宅は、1戸を使われていたままの状態で展示しており、もう１戸の部屋には、岩手県宮古工業高校から寄贈された「仙台湾周辺津波模型」を展示しています。この模型は約１．８ｍ四方、縮図２５０００分の１で東松島市から亘理町に至る仙台湾周辺の平野部を再現したものです。そして湾内に水を流し込むと津波による侵水域が確認できるという装置です。これらは実際に学校にいらっしゃったお客さんに見ていただいています。この仮設住宅を通じて、災害の恐ろしさ、そして東日本大震災を風化させない取組をしていきたいです。
