Presentation about nuclear power plants
English Description
June 18, 2011 La Maison Franco-Japonaise, Yebisu, Tokyo There was a presentation about nuclear power plants by Satoshi Kamata, a famous journalist and Norito Kunisue, who worked at a branch office of Asahi Newspaper Company in France. It pretty much goes without saying that using nuclear power plant is dangerous especially in a highly-populated country like Japan where it has to import Uranium and Plutonium from other countries. But Mr. Kamata propounded that another major problem with nukes lies in Tepco’s dictatorial management system that neglects public opinion. Mr. Kamata gave rise to the view that Tepco spends a huge sum of money on so-called propaganda to brainwash children that power plants are absolutely safe (without mentioning anything about its potential risks). Tepco’s argument has no force to it, since its fine-sounding phrases are unpersuasive and only work on paper. But Tepco does have a ridiculous sum of money enough to censor anti-nuclear movement of companies that get advertising fees from Tepco. Japan is one of the few non-nuclear clubs to rely on nukes. Nuclear power plant is riddled with flaws; it’s “an apartment with no bathroom, so it’s critical that companies know what they’re going to do when their plants need to go to the bathroom. But given today’s technology, it’s impossible to prepare clean safe bathrooms.
