The National Police Agency confirmed that as of 10:00 a.m. on April 7, the Great East Japan Earthquake had left 12,596 people confirmed dead and 14,747listed as missing. A total of 157,895 people are living as evacuees in 2,353 shelters in 18 prefectures.
