February 16, 2012 On September 9, 2011, a group of leading scholars from China, Japan, and the United States toured areas devastated by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. One stop along the bus tour was a meeting with Shigeatsu Hatakeyama, an oyster fisherman in Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture, who is leading an effort to revive oyster farming.
