Monterey Bay Aquarium |Big Catch Flags: The Spirit of Renewal

Submitted by RIJS on
Item Description
For more than 100 years, Japanese fishermen flew flags to celebrate abundant fish catches. Today, flags like these fly over our sister aquarium—Aquamarine Fukushima in Japan—to celebrate its restoration and recovery from the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. Just inside our main entrance, we''re also exhibiting these beautiful flags to honor Aquamarine Fukushima and its enduring spirit of hope and renewal.
