Following the extensive damage caused by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, many across Japan thought that cherry-blossom viewing parties were inappropriate. However, arguments that holding back on the consumption of food and drink will only slow the economic recovery of the hardest hit regions have since taken hold, and though delayed, many of Tokyo's favorite locations have turned out as lively as usual.
